01

Who we are

We are a congregation of Christians in Waterloo, Iowa. We don't think of ourselves as a new church or a denomination, but as people seeking to be the church originally established on Pentecost, as described in the New Testament. Our plea is for unity among all believers on the basis of the Bible alone.

02

Our commitment to Scripture

We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible are divinely inspired and authoritative. We aim to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent, so that in all we do religiously there is a "thus saith the Lord." We have no creed but the Bible.

03

How the church is organized

Following the New Testament pattern, each congregation is autonomous, with no central headquarters or organization above the local church. In a fully organized congregation, a plurality of elders — qualified according to 1 Timothy 3 — shepherd the flock under the headship of Christ, with deacons, teachers, and evangelists serving alongside them.

04

Our approach to worship

On the first day of every week we gather to sing a cappella, pray, study God's Word, give as we have prospered, and partake of the Lord's Supper with one loaf and one cup. We want to worship the way God has asked, without adding to or taking away from it.

05

Sharing the gospel

The gospel is good news: Jesus came and died for our sins and rose again. We want everyone to know it, and we want to help anyone who wishes to obey it — to be added not to Cedar Terrace, but to the church Jesus died for.

“And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”
Colossians 1:18 · NKJV
